Centre of Excellence in Production Informatics and Control

The main, overall objective of the project is to establish the Centre of Excellence in Production Informatics and Control (EPIC CoE) as a leading, internationally acknowledged focus point in the field of cyber-physical production systems. The main goals of the EPIC CoE are, one the one hand, to upgrade this scientific centre of excellence, and on the other hand, to strengthen the ability of SZTAKI and the two faculties of BME to transfer the research results to the industry with the support of the participating FhG institutions, with other words to enhance the applied research and innovation potential in the field of cyber-physical systems in Hungary, with international influence, especially in the CEE region.

EPIC CoE will be constituted and run through the cooperation of the Institute for Computer Science and Control, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA SZTAKI), two faculties of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) and four institutions of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (FhG) under the coordination of the National Innovation Office (NIH), Hungary. The mission of EPIC CoE - as a leading-edge knowledge centre of cyber-physical production systems - is to accelerate innovation, realize industrial solutions, train new generations of highly qualified professionals and support the development of a sustainable and competitive European manufacturing ecosystem.
