The EU provides emergency fund for the SZTAKI-led international COVID project

The EU provides additional resources for the international COVID-project led by SZTAKI, the member institution of ELKH.

Led by SZTAKI, a 21-member EU project will be launched to make European production systems and supply chains more flexible. The goal is to help the shift from general production to medical devices if a pandemic or a further wave of COVID-19 requires so.

The CO-VERSATILE tender of SZTAKI, won the European Union's Horizon 2020 emergency program to combat COVID. This project aims to enhance the versatility of the European manufacturing industry, with a particular focus on vital medical devices and protective equipment. By this project, the production capacities can be changed within 48 hours if an extremely large amount of medical equipment or protective equipment is required. Another goal is to create a so-called Digital Technopole, and this way the developments and solutions can be shared with other manufacturers all over Europe.

The project leader is Dr. Róbert Lovas, Deputy Director of SZTAKI.

The 21-member consortium includes the German Fraunhofer IGD (Institute for Computer Graphics Research) and IML (Institute for Material Flow and Logistics) research centers, EIT Manufacturing, Leibniz University and the University of Westminster, as well as several European manufacturers and Digital Agents. Innovation Center.

Important Hungarian member of the consortium is Innomine: an alliance of suppliers, universities and research institutes, small and medium-sized enterprises and investors. One of Innomine's main tasks will be to promote the most desirable solutions on the market by organizing a Europe-wide networking event (matchaton).
