HUN-REN SZTAKI's laboratory manager gave a presentation at the UN event

On 11 December 2023, József Váncza, Head of the Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence at HUN-REN SZTAKI, gave an invited online presentation at the "AI for Good" lecture series sponsored by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in a session on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in manufacturing. The event was followed by a worldwide audience and opened by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

After a brief historical overview, the presentation "Breakthroughs of Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing" discussed five areas where current and near-term AI breakthroughs could make a significant breakthrough in achieving competitive, sustainable and human-centred manufacturing. The speaker also outlined the past and present achievements of STECI in this field. Most of the questions that followed the presentation focused on the risks of new technologies.
