The goal of the project was the development of a movie picture restoration system and workstation to allow high speed, complete, high-resolution digital restoration of film pictures and sound. The main goal is to save the pictures and sound of very bad physical status nitro-celluloid movies to safety film. The goal was achieved during the project works. In the frames of the project a complete, digital archive film restoration system was developed. The system includes a movie film digital scanner, a sound digitizer and pre-processor unit, a picture processing workstation with a 5Tbyte size memory, a multi-speed internal network (Mbit- and GbitEthernet), and an RGB-laser based film writer. The high resolution film sound digitaliser and the high resolution film writer were developed by System Engineering Department.
