HIR2G2 expert system in the electrical substation of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant

HIR2 is a PC-based SCADA system at the electrical substation of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. Our product, HIR2G2 is an AI-based, intelligent advisory system that is connected to the SCADA system as a knowledge server. Besides increasing reliability and safety of energy supply the basic goal of the system is to assist the operator in faster and more effective reactions, and to assist the plant engineer to better understand and evaluate any possible events.
The following advisory functions and their realizations in rules and procedures were developed:
- Equipment diagnostics and maintenance design.
- Topology analysis with voltage and current map generation, determination of dangerous topologies.
- Intelligent interlocking system based on the measured voltages and currents.
- Diagnostics of disturbances, determination of the places and types of short-circuits, advising in recovery procedures.
- Automatic generation of switching sequences.
The system is running in the on-line HIR2 SCADA system and in a training environment called ATS.
The decade long project has followed the reconstruction of the substation in many steps.
