The main aim of the project is the morphological presentation of the normal and pathological condition of the knee joint by scanning images. Marker technique assures the accuracy of three-dimensional orientation. The 3D image of the knee reconstructed by the digitized database presents a realistic condition of the geometry. The physical approach during the operative management is visible on the screen by the computer technique. The operative technique is executed by stereotactive device or by digitized video camera. The preoperatively calculated interventions are performed by mechanical manipulators fixed to the stereotaxis frame or by optical navigation system, which registers the actual position of the instruments, e.g. drilling “blindly” towards the designated area, bone curettage by minimal surgery, the exact implants of different prosthesis elements fixed to the navigation instrument. The aimed auxiliary frame fixed to the investigation table helps to make stable the extremity and to adjust the position of the knee and the operative inventions. The library program stores the 3D pictures of the various instruments and prosthesis, as well as their real sizes. The program adjusts the instruments and prosthesis elements on the image of the knee during the procedure simulating the real situation. This method helps the spread the minimal surgical interventions concerning mainly to the knee joint, however it could be applied in other field of the medicine. This method assures the accurate placement of the semiconstraint knee endoprosthesis even the monocondyler design, what has no special instrumentation available at all. This method has a great importance in the medical practice, though it offers also benefits for Hungarian enterprises.
