Digital art work, created in cooperation with HUN-REN SZTAKI DSD, is at PATRON 2023 art exhibition

HUN-REN SZTAKI Department of Distributed Systems (DSD) actively took part in digital art projects in the 1990s, when DSD itself just started. In the era of emerging web technologies, several artists who wished to present their work in the virtual space contacted DSD. Bringing their ideas an exciting cooperation was established to see how it was possible to technically implement artistic visions, where DSD provided software development and the technical background. Nightwatch, a net art journal with independently connected net art works, dates from this most prolific period.

One of the cooperating artists is Anita Sárosi, who together with a friend, Beatrix Szörényi, found an abandoned shop window in the center of Budapest and decided to reuse it as an independent gallery. So for a year between 2000-2001, they realized a large-scale public art project both in the physical space and on the The Art Window website, after 23 years, is still hosted and supported by the Department of Distributed Systems (DSD) in HUN-REN SZTAKI.

ART WINDOW CD-ROM won the Mediawave Festival's Creative Prize, it was presented at several exhibitions and media art events, and it has also been collected and preserved in esteemed institutions, including the Center for Art and Media Technology (ZKM) in Karlsruhe, Germany; the C3 Video Archive and Media Art Collection in Budapest, Hungary. The CD-ROM is now available at the PATRON 2023 - Christmas Exhibition and Fair between 2023.12.07 and 2023.12.20.
